Where is tungsten found?

Where is pure tungsten found?
There are multiple countries spanning the globe that are able to source tungsten in its purest form. Many of its resources can be found in Asian countries such as China (responsible for 80% of the world’s supply) and South Korea. It can also be found in Bolivia, Russia, Portugal, and of course here in the United Kingdom.
When it has been sourced in its purest form, tungsten metal is then mixed into multiple alloys to become a more versatile material.
What are the uses for tungsten?
The advantages of tungsten are being recognised more and more, and it’s not uncommon to see tungsten used in everyday appliances.
Due to its strength and flexibility, tungsten wire has a variety of uses. For example, it is seen in hairdryers as its high melting point allows it to easily cope with the soaring temperatures generated. For the same reason, this kind of wire is used for filament incandescent lamps. Tungsten is needed for the hottest part of the bulb that creates light and plenty of heat.
Many large scale items that incorporate the use of tungsten use a tungsten bar to provide them with the sufficient amount of material they need.
The strength of tungsten allows it to be used in just about any appliance, offering added durability. For example, remember those alloys we talked about earlier? A common alloy formed uses diamond, which makes it a perfect use for jewellery such as wedding rings and bands.
Tungsten is one of the most versatile metals around. This is why it can be found in a wide variety of places, including: mobile phone handsets, drilling equipment, automation, electrical appliances, chemical applications and more.
