Tungsten – “W” (Also known as Wolfram)
Tungsten Bar, Wire, Crucible, Sheet, Billet
Tungsten manufacturing in terms of parts and fittings is increasingly on the rise due to it’s extremely beneficial property to a number of industries of having an impressively high melting point. Tungsten has a high melting point of 6170°F (3410°C). It has a low coefficient thermal expansion and low vapour pressure at elevated temperatures, it also has good thermal and electrical conductivity.
Tungsten has a high-density point, making it perfect to be applied to items such as weights, counterweights and ballast keels for yachts. Tungsten is an outstanding material for vacuum equipment, dimensional stability, arc-welding electrodes, glass seals and furnace manufacturing (namely the heating elements). Its high density gives it a capacity to absorb radioactive radiation. When added to steel it will heighten physical properties and alloy with, copper, iron, nickel to produce high-density machinable materials.
Tungsten can be used in industrial applications for lighting, radiation, shielding (namely radiation shielding), medical devices (x-ray tubes for example), to support structures for power tubes, vacuum heating, evaporation sources in metallizing processes, office machinery etc.
