Molybdenum #Throwback

Did you know?

It was Carl Wilhelm Scheele who founded Molybdenum back in 1778..

As well as Tungsten in 1781..

He was a German-Swedish man who only lived up until the age of 43, and discovered many metals and gases in that time.

Its name is from ancient Greek which translates to ‘Lead’ mainly because its ores were confused with those of lead.

On the periodic table it can be found as atomic number 42 or as Mo.

‘Is the 54th most abundant element in the Earth’s crust and the 25th most abundant element in the oceans, with an average of 10 parts per billion; it is the 42nd most abundant element in the Universe.’
