Metal company Shaw Metal Solutions have helped resolve an ongoing issue for rugby star Paul McDerby. His wheelchair that he uses for contests kept becoming damaged and he was due to compete in a the World Championships in Belgium recently, and should the justifications have not been made he would not have been legally allowed to compete.
Paul McDerby, said: “Without Shaw’s help I wouldn’t have made it to the European Championships.
“Since then the firm has straightened some battered spindles and have kindly offered to maintain my new rugby chair in 2014.”
His next big tournament is the Canada Cup held in Vancouver in June with trips to USA Sweden and France also planned.
Shaw Metal managing director Georgina St.Hilaire said: “It’s great to help a leading sportsman.
“As soon as Paul came to us with his chair issues we were more than happy to give him the help he was looking for.
“To continue the partnership through 2014 will be great and we’re all looking forward to hearing about Paul’s ongoing success.”
